Rev your engines! On Monday, Focus Entertainment announced a major publishing partnership with independent video game developer Maverick Games to release CLUTCH, a captivatingly cinematic open-world racing game. The partnership comes as Focus Entertainment works to add more exploratory racing games to its already colossal catalog.
“At Focus, we look to partner with creators who are redefining their genre,” Focus Entertainment Publishing Deputy CEO Vincent Chataignier said in a news release. “Mike Brown and his team are regarded as one of the defining creative voices in the racing genre, and CLUTCH embodies exactly the creative ambition Focus Entertainment wants to champion.”

About ‘CLUTCH’
In CLUTCH, a story from Skins co-creator Jamie Brittain, players are thrust into the multifaceted and often tumultuous lives of a group of racing outsiders. The professional motorsport competitors’ focused, structured daily lives do a 180 when they enter a gritty, no-holds-barred world of underground racing at night.
The CLUTCH team promises rich, character-driven storytelling, elevated cinematics, satisfying open-world gameplay, and extensive vehicle customization and cosmetics that let players add their personal flair.
CLUTCH developer Maverick Games is a UK-based independent AAA game development studio, established back in 2022 by former Forza Horizon 5 creative director Mike Brown. Brown worked as lead designer on Forza Horizon‘s second, third, and fourth installments.
All in all, Maverick Games comprises veteran devs with decades of combined industry experience, and if history is any indication, the studio staff’s collective experience with open-world racing games means CLUTCH is gonna be a ride to remember.
“We founded Maverick Games to build the open-world racing experience we’d dreamed about for years,” Brown said in a news release. “Focus shares our creative bar and our ambition for CLUTCH, and we can’t wait for players everywhere to discover this world,” Brown added.
