Cult of the Lamb: The Board Game launching on Kickstarter

An official board game adaptation of the blockbuster indie video game Cult of the Lamb is heading to Kickstarter later this month. Paper Fort Games’ Cult of the Lamb: The Board Game turns developer Massive Monster and publisher Devolver Digital’s flock-possession game into an accessible tabletop adventure, launching on Kickstarter on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

In Cult of the Lamb: The Board Game, you and up to three other friends must work to successfully develop cults. Players become the game’s deceptively adorable prophets — the Lamb, the Goat, the Owl, and the Snake — and compete over four unique rounds across two Phases: Crusade and Cult.

In the former, players “guide [their] prophet along branching dungeon paths, fight enemies using a quick dice-assignment combat system, collect loot, visit shops and decide how much risk to take in pursuit of greater rewards.”

As part of the latter, gamers “recruit and put [their] Followers to work – send them to board locations to claim actions that will allow [players] to construct new buildings, enact doctrines, gather resources, manage faith, and keep the flock fed, healthy, and (mostly) obedient.”

Cult of the Lamb: The Board Game incorporates dungeon-crawler elements, stunning visuals, dice-rolling combat, and gripping storytelling to deliver a thrilling adventure faithful to the source material. At the time of writing, Cult of the Lamb: The Board Game has over 18,000 Kickstarter followers and 167 backers.

Cult of the Lamb, released on August 11, 2022, for PC, consoles, and smart devices, puts players in the shoes — well, hooves — of a small lamb who must create a cult to please The One Who Waits, a mysterious deity that has just pulled players from the brink of death. On Valve’s digital game platform Steam, Cult of the Lamb boasts an “Overwhelmingly Positive” review average thanks to positive feedback from nearly 60,000 Steam users.

In addition to the upcoming tabletop adventure from Paper Fort, the cute-‘n’-culty game’s critical and commercial success has led to the development of multiple paid DLC packs and the launch of the Woolhaven expansion earlier this year.
