NIS America, Inc. and developer Nippon Ichi Software announced on Tuesday that GOBBLE, an all-new, hand-Painted action platformer, will come to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam sometime in 2027.
In ‘GOBBLE,’ gamers lead player character Root on a journey to find his missing family, but to get the job done, he must lean on smug demonic bird Scythariel for help. The good news? Your new (and aptly-named) friend Scythariel can transform into a monster-eating scythe. Serendipitous!
Hungry? Good. With Scythariel at your side, you’ll be able to cut enemies down to size and eat ’em all up. Corpses fuel unique abilities, letting you traverse treacherous chasms and hunt down hidden secrets. Grub on your enemies for extra health, then invest your hard-earned HP in super-powered abilities.
Feel like looking around? Each stage includes unique collectibles, so do your best to pick ’em all up — but don’t dilly-dally, because you’ve got loved ones counting on you!

GOBBLE, the latest project from the creative minds at Nippon Ichi Software. The studio is also behind vibrant beat-based platformer MAD RAT DEAD, released back in October 2020. One quick look at promotional materials and you’ll note both titles share the studio’s zany, comic book-inspired motif.
Take Root and wisecracking combat companion Scythariel through a hand-painted world complemented by dynamic audio and unique combat mechanics when GOBBLE arrives on PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam next year.
Preorder the game now via the official website and head to Steam to add it to your wishlist. Steam users: be sure to follow both developer Nippon Ichi Software and publisher NIS America to hear about development processes or other official announcements.
